Live Music with Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs

Since 2013, Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs have been forging a fresh and energetic sound in the northwest music scene. Their live show is highlighted by unbridled energy and punctuated by songs performed with fervor and rock 'n' roll swagger. The Bird Dogs push the envelope of what a traditional string band is generally described as by fusing folk songs with country, pop, and rock.

No other band today has the same credentials for playing traditional and progressive music. As the sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo continue their father’s work—a lifelong dedication to the power of bluegrass music to bring joy into people’s lives. And with fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram, the ensemble is loved and respected by the bluegrass faithful. But the band is now combining their sound with others to make something fresh and rejuvenating.

In 2008, Rawlins self-released “The Amazing Circle of Boxes,” his 19-track debut album recorded between 2002-2007 during the interims of band activity, in a series of bedrooms, basements, garages and warehouses. At times simple and meditative, at times erratic, spacey, distorted and fused with a myriad of electronics and natural sounds, Rawlins auspiciously established himself as unique entity among American musicians.

Live Music with Trego

Pass-the-hat

Trego
... is the band formerly known as Folkinception.
For nine years the Folkinception name has been a staple in the blossoming music scene of Spokane Washington. Over their tenure, the six piece Americana/Rock n' Roll act has developed a reputation for notably energetic, highly engaging live performances that showcase the band's tightly woven arrangements, commanding vocal harmonies and heartfelt songwriting. Over time, the music has moved farther away from it's folk origins. The band has embraced the new moniker of Trego which will allow the music to evolve and grow without being tied to a genre.

Live Music with Robert Sarazin Blake and the Put-it-all-Down-in-a-Letters

Pass-the-hat

Eleven full length albums into his career, he’s continued to write pulling from folk roots, his travels, his contemporaries, and the quiet spot in the back of his mind. The writing has evolved, mellowing with experience and expanding with reference, but the essence of the work has remained the same-strong narratives solidly built on the folk foundation and fully in the immediacy of the now.

Very few musicians of any stripe so personify a musical genre as completely as Tony Furtado embodies Americana roots music. Stephanie (Tony’s wife) will be opening for his show.

Trying to pin down Stephanie Schneiderman to any one genre, talent or discipline is next to impossible. One thing is clear however- whether pursuing her prolific work as a solo artist, playing drums for all star roots pop act Dirty Martini, stepping on the stage in the musical The Full Monty, producing a wildly successful humanitarian concert series for refugees in Uganda (raising over $70k) as well as producing the soundtrack for 3 popular children's DVD's -selling more than 75,000 combined units, Schneiderman is hands down one of the most diversely talented artists the Northwest has to offer. Since her solo career began with a coveted spot in the Lilith Fair, Stephanie has earned extensive NW radio play, seen her music placed in numerous films and TV shows, earned a devout following and has toured around the world. She’s had multiple appearances with some of the nations top touring acts- including Aimee Mann, Hall & Oates, Heart, Train, Pat Benatar, Chicago, Madeleine Peyroux, Andy Summers, Marc Cohn and many more. With eight solo recordings under her belt - plus four releases with her collaborative bands Dirty Martini and Swan Sovereign, Schneiderman is a prolific recording artist who enjoys exploring the threads that connect the genres of Americana folk, pop, soul and trip-hop. Her most recent album, Live at the Old Church (a departure from her ambient/trip-hop release, Rubber Teardrop, on Dan Reed's London-based label) strips away the layers and features Stephanie on piano and guitar with a string section and choir backing her, and gives fans the core essence of her songwriting, delivering a spellbinding live performance that old and new fans will revere.

Live Music with Matt Mitchell

Pass-the-hat cover charge

Voted Spokane's third best singer/songwriter (2018 Inlander Readers Poll) Mitchell was raised on piano from an early age. He eventually picked up the guitar and harmonica around the age of 18. His solo shows are a mixture of heartfelt originals, light hearted "Talking Blues-style" story telling and foot-stomping acoustic rock n' roll tunes. Matt Mitchell's sound is distinctly original, but vaguely reminiscent of artist along the lines of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jeff Tweedy and Josh Ritter.
